Body of Violence

Photography series, showed in London (Photomonth, 2015) and Lund (Galleri Pictura, 2016).


I assisted Swedish artist Malin Bernalt in Israel & Palestine, supported by the Victor Fellow funding from the Hasselbad Foundation.
The project combined interviewing several families and photographing one of their belongings, against a black backdrop, in a participative manner: the object was one of their choice, with a focus on mundane pieces of clothing and accessories, in this sense 'universal' items. The intention was to take departure from traditional documentary photography and to elude faces. The outcome contains photographs and printed extracts from the interviews and aims to offer new ways of portraying people living under conflict.
